We have previously suggested in our Buyers Guide to P&H Sea Kayaks that there was space in P&H's sea kayak line-up for both a larger and smaller Volan in addition to the current 158 and 160. Our friends over at Sea Kayak Oban have been down visiting the P&H factory and spotted the first Volan 156 prototype, still hot out of the mould. Here's what they had to say:
"Super stoked to say we visited P&H Sea Kayaks headquarters in England this week and took a look at the first new Volan 156 (Extra Small) prototype. This boat will be more suited to those of you with a slight frame or weighing in around 50kg than the 158 which was previously the smallest Volan size. In Ultralight construction the approximate weight will be just 14kg!"
The Volan's are P&H's 'do it all' composite sea kayaks for day trips, weekend camping and a bit of ocean play thrown in to. For more info on these modern classic's see our Buyers Guide to P&H Sea Kayaks.
We will let you know more about the 156 (and the 162?) as we find out and Sea Kayak Oban will have them available for Demo soon.
